I recently had the privilege of reading Rosh Sillars new book – One Hour Photographer – and found it to be an extremely beneficial reference tool. Rosh designed this book to be read in about an hour. To that end, the fourteen chapters are straightforward and to the point. Yet, in those chapters Rosh covers an incredible amount of information that would be useful to those thinking of taking the plunge into the business of photography. I can also see how the points could also make for a good review even for seasoned professionals, especially his points on pricing.
Unlike other ebooks I’ve run across, Rosh has a long and successful career in photography and in helping others understand marketing. So his points come from real world experience. It’s not filled with theory; it’s filled with real world knowledge distilled to its essential points and collected into a single volume.
At the end of the book Rosh has included a series of assignments to help improve your photography and business skills. I enjoyed working through these as it can help you reexamine both your art and business, finding improvements to help in the continuous quest for improvement.
His book is available from the Amazon Kindle store for less than a single issue of most photography magazines. Well worth it and highly recommended.
