Emergence

Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light. – Helen Keller

There is a radical shift going on in Detroit. After facing economic decimation, Detroit has discovered that the old way of doing things isn’t cutting it anymore. There is a core group here looking to reinvent the Motor City into a creative hotspot. They believe that this once great city can rise again, emerging from the darkness into a bright new era.

And it’s working.

This image was captured in the bowels of Michigan Central Station. The light shining through the holes in the ceiling of the room above hit at just the right time to create this fantastic transitional scene, leaving you to ponder how everything could have gone so wrong for this magnificent building. And the city that it sits in.

Yet the light above acts as a beacon to brighter days ahead. It’ll take work, but hard work is nothing new to Detroit.  The city – like MCS – can still be salvaged for a better future. It’s not too late.

Offered in 12″x12″ size for $275. Click here to learn more about my art prints, or click the button below to be directed to my Etsy store to process your order.

Nice post and photograph. I’ve never been to Detroit and I don’t know much about it other than what most people know, but some natives have been telling me things about it, the decay and hopes for revitalization. I hope they are able to renew.

Thanks for the shout out. You actually described it very well and put into words the description I was looking for. I am glad this worked out well for both of us and I could help.
