It Was a Dark and Stormy Night

Sometimes timing is everything.  Here is downtown Charlotte, which is about to get hit with a summer thunderstorm. Still, I was able to get this shot before the clouds obscured the tops of the skyscrapers.

In this instance, I had my camera with me but not my tripod. And that, of course, can be detrimental to getting a great night shot. In a moment of improvisation, I used the wall of a parking garage that we were at as the tripod, set the timer and took the shot. (Ok, well, I took several but this one was the best)

I’ve always liked the modern skyline of Charlotte. They’ve added several new buildings in the last few years, giving the city a new, edgy look. It’s a great city to visit and I hope to get more shots from there on later visits.
